The Branch Line Society has revealed that a DB Cargo cab ride is being raffled with all proceeds raised donated to Martin House Hospice.

This once in a lifetime prize will include a ride for two people either in the leading cab or back cab, depending on the operational requirements of the DB Cargo service.

The prize will need to be claimed before December 2022, with the destination or freight terminal to be agreed upon between DB Cargo and the lucky winner. The cab ride must also be taken in the DB Cargo Teesside and Yorkshire areas of operation.

The winner of the cab ride will need to be able to do the following:

• Climb up into the cab using the steps unassisted
• Stand for a good duration in a moving train
• Walk on uneven surfaces such as ballast
• Walk through the loco engine room which could be narrow, noisy and dirty
• Read, understand and sign a cab briefing.

The winner will also need to bring the following equipment:

• Steel toe cap boots
• Weather appropriate clothing
• Photo ID
