Class 40 and Britannia steam locomotive to haul Preston to Bristol tour this Wednesday

BR Class 40 D213 Andania and BR Class 7 No. 70000  Britannia will haul ‘ Welsh Marches Whistler this Wednesday, 8th June, from Preston to Bristol Temple Meads.

Departing Preston behind D213 Andania at 05:14, the train will pass through Leyland (05:19), Chorley (05:27), Bolton (05:44), Salford Crescent (05:57), (06:03), Denton (06:26), Stockport (06:56), Wilmslow (07:16), Sandbach (08:05) and Crewe at 08:13.

Here, 70000 Britannia will take over the train. Departing at 08:48, the train will pass through Nantwich (08:59), (09:44), Craven Arms (10:18), Hereford (10:54), Pontypool & New Inn (12:30), Cwmbran (12:35), Severn Tunnel Junction (12:59), (13:12), (13:15) and Bristol Temple Meads at 13:27.

After time in Bristol, and with D213 following Light Engine down the Welsh Marches route, the tour will depart behind D213 at 16:52 and will pass through Filton Abbey Wood (17:01), Severn Tunnel Junction (17:35), Abergavenny (18:13), Hereford (18:37), Church Stretton (19:21), Shrewsbury (19:55), Whitchurch (20:19), Crewe (20:40), Chelford (21:18), Wilmslow (21:27), Cheadle Hulme (21:35), Stockport (21:45), Denton (22:08), Manchester Victoria (22:38), Clifton (22:56), Bolton (23:05), Chorley (23:22) and Preston at 23:40.
