The summer season will see ‘Seaside Specials’ running from Pickering to Whitby with services departing at 9.20am and 12pm Mondays to Saturdays and Sunday journey times are available online.
The popular journeys are hauled by either heritage steam or diesel locomotives with reserved seating,
24 miles of stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park scenery and arriving in Whitby in an hour and 50 minutes for a fantastic family day out. The ‘Seaside Specials’ offer families five hours in the charming seaside town of Whitby.
For shorter journeys, the ‘Moors Explorer’ provides a stop to explore the beautiful village station of Goathland or Grosmont which is home to the NYMR engine sheds. The ‘Moors Explorer’ does not offer allocated seating and is not available on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the year and Fridays during the months of September and October.
Whilst enjoying a summer day out, why not visit one of the station’s tea rooms for a tasty breakfast or grab a light bite onboard the train. Station shops also offer local food and drink alongside a range of homeware, toys, books and much more.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a charity, and an accredited museum, all income made from your visit, including ticket purchases, catering and retail, is reinvested back into NYMR in order to keep the heritage railway steaming into the future.
