Seaton Tramway in Devon has announced plans for a “Polar Express” which will take families on a magical tram ride to Santa’s home at the North Pole through November and December.
Travel will be in one of the tramway’s specially decorated single deck tramcars. Visitors will be served a cup of hot chocolate, given a delicious treat, and have the chance to speak to Santa. Whilst they walk around the North Pole they will be able to admire the awesome lights.
Children will receive their first gift of Christmas from Santa himself. On the return journey, there will be singing along to Christmas carols, which for the grown-up kids will be a trip down memory lane to a traditional Christmas of old.
The tramway runs between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon’s glorious Axe Valley. Narrow gauge heritage trams run alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves and give an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life.
The coastal resort of Seaton is a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, whilst the historic town of Colyton is described as “Devon’s Most Rebellious Town” for its part in the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685.
The Polar Express will run on the following dates;
- 5th November to 27th November 2022
- 1st December to 4th December 2022
- 7th December to 11th December 2022
- 13th December to 18th December 2022
- 20th December to 24th December 2022
A round trip will last approximately 2 to 2½ hours. As there are only a limited number of seats for each journey on the snug single deck tramcars, passengers should pre-book their tickets on the Seaton Tramway website here.
