A Locomotive Services Ltd steam locomotive will haul ‘The Fellsman’ from Crewe to Carlisle, via Blackburn and Settle this Wednesday, 18th May 2022.
We believe that this tour will be hauled by one of the following: 34046 Braunton, 46100 Royal Scot, 70000 Britannia or 45231 The Sherwood Forester, but we have yet to have this confirmed.
Departing Crewe at 07:02, the train will be first hauled by a diesel, with the steam loco on the back. The tour will head through Beeston Castle (07:16) to Chester, arriving at 07:28.
From Chester, the tour is hauled by the steam locomotive. Departing at 07:38, the train will pass through Frodsham (07:52) and Runcorn East (07:57) to get to the WCML at Warrington Bank Quay – arriving at 08:03.
From Warrington Bank Quay, the train will pass through Wigan North Western (08:20), Bamber Bridge (08:56), Blackburn (09:07), Clitheroe (09:34), Hellifield (10:27), Ribblehead (10:59), Garsdale (11:14), Appleby (11:37), Lazonby & Kirkoswald (12:28) and Carlisle at 12:50.
After two-and-a-half hours in Carlisle, the locomotive will go back on the same path as the outbound journey. Departing Carlisle at 15:30, the train will pass through Appleby (16:14), Blea Moor (16:58), Hellifield (17:29), Clitheroe (18:42), Blackburn (19:09), Bamber Bridge (19:20), Wigan North Western (19:58), Warrington Bank Quay (20:14), Frodsham (20:28), Chester (20:45 – diesel hauled from here) and finally Crewe at 21:33.
