TransPennine Express believes that its apprenticeship scheme is the key to discovering the next generation of railway superstars.

The rail operator runs services through the North and into and has four new available in Business Development, IT, Performance and Service Planning departments. The successful candidates will be guaranteed the opportunity to experience a career in rail.

Not only does the scheme provide a chance to experience rail and the many positives it has to offer, apprentices will also work towards gaining a professional qualification whilst achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award as part of the scheme.

Becky Jones, Talent and Apprenticeship Manager for said:

Shannon Pilkington joined TransPennine Express (TPE) alongside 13 other apprentices as part of the 2021 apprenticeship intake and has recently secured a permanent position in the Control Team

Shannon said:

“Completing an apprenticeship is the best decision I’ve ever made, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to go into the rail industry.

“It sets you up for your railway career and it’s the best way to learn, especially with TPE because you’re able to experience learning from various departments so you’re going to have some great knowledge when you start a full-time role.”
