LNER Waiting Room Refurbishments across the East Coast Route

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has seen an £800,000 investment made for the refurbishment of its waiting rooms across its East Coast route.

The waiting rooms are undergoing refurbishment and will bring improvements to customer facilities, marking the most extensive renovation in approximately 20 years. Customers are now able to make use of the new look waiting rooms alongside the updated technology for LNER managed stations on the East Coast route.

The refurbished rooms will feature a modern colour palette using white and silver together with brand new anthracite-coloured flooring.

The modernised waiting rooms will offer customers the chance to relax and recharge in comfortable new leather seating which features built-in USB and plug socket charging points for phones and laptops.

The first stations to undergo their waiting room renovations were Berwick upon Tweed, , Wakefield Westgate and .

The next stations to undergo refurbishments in their waiting rooms are , Durham, Grantham, , Newark Northgate, and York.

“This major investment in our waiting rooms across the entire East Coast route demonstrates our commitment to the customer. Making sure that the experience at every station is the same high standard that LNER is known for.”

The programme of work which also includes lighting and accessibility improvements will see more than 30 waiting rooms refurbished with work expected to complete by Autumn 2022.
