The rail operators is advising those attending the Grand National by car to reconsider and choose train travel having scheduled extra services into Liverpool Lime Street from right across the Northern network.
Once in Liverpool Lime Street, customers can easily head to Liverpool Central and connect via Merseyrail for the 15-minute trip to Aintree station. Aintree station has anticipated extra demand and will have extra team members available to support passengers.
Trains are expected to be very busy as Manchester United fans will also be heading to Liverpool for a clash with Everton at Goodison Park with a kick-off of 12.30pm.
Chris Jackson, regional director at Northern, said:
“It’s going to be a busy day, but we’re well-schooled with those. In racing terms, the trains are the clear thoroughbred here.”
