Direct Rail Services have announced that after missing two years their charity open day will return on Saturday the 16th of July 2022
The open day is an event for all the family and gives people the opportunity to grab a behind the scenes look at one of the UK’s leading rail freight operators.
Visitors can take a look around Direct Rail Services (DRS) maintenance depot at Gresty Bridge and even have a sit in the driver’s seat of a selection of locomotives, ask industry experts questions and much more. The event will also see a naming ceremony for the locomotives with new nameplates unveiled.
This event also marks a new chapter in the company’s rich history as they are now part of Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS).
Tickets for the open day cost £5 for adults and under 16’s are free, whilst under 16’s don’t require a ticket, they must have an adult present with them at all times.
Tickets can be pre-ordered via DRS’s website and can also be purchased on the day. All proceeds raised at the event will be used to support UK charities alongside other deserving community causes.
The event will take place at Gresty Bridge Depot, Gresty Rd, Crewe CW2 5AA on Saturday 16 July 2022 with gates opening at 10am and closing at 4pm.
Chris Connelly, Rail Director and NTS’s Deputy CEO, said: “I’m thrilled that we’re able to host our fantastic open day this year after a long absence.
“It’s been a tough couple of years throughout the pandemic so it’ll be great to get out and have a celebration of rail with some old friends and hopefully many new ones.
“The money raised from the open day goes to help charities, community projects and good causes across the country and we’re really proud of the support we provide through this fabulous event.”
