DB Cargo UK has taken delivery from Briggs Equipment of two new Hyster ReachStackers for lifting and handling containers and swap bodies in an exciting new project at Grangemouth in Scotland.
The company will save money on maintenance and repairs, and provide increased reliability for their customers, because of the ReachStacker’s robust design and diverse functionality.
With an increase in uptime, DB Cargo will achieve greater levels of productivity across its operation.
The project was led by Grace Thomson, DB Cargo’s Account Manager – Intermodal, with the support of Paul Moore, Grangemouth Terminal Manager, and the procurement team. It was put out to tender in June 2019 and won by Briggs Equipment in October 2019.
A board paper was drawn up for the rental and maintenance of the new equipment. After that was approved, DB Cargo placed an order for two new Hyster ReachStackers for Grangemouth Terminal, and one for Barking Intermodal; the one for Barking was delivered last year.
Neil Ethel, Chief Operating Officer at DB Cargo (UK) commented: “This is an important investment by DB Cargo (UK) and clearly demonstrates our commitment to Grangemouth Terminal, our colleagues who are based there, and our customers who we operate for at this location. The new machines offer a safe, reliable, and more efficient asset to ensure we deliver consistently at the highest levels for all our customers. The investment aligns perfectly to our vision to be First Choice for Rail Logistics.”
Stuart Long, Briggs Equipment’s Key Account Manager, commented: “We’re delighted to have completed delivery of the Hyster ReachStackers to DB Cargo UK. We’ve worked collaboratively with their team over the past couple of years to fully understand their requirements and ensure the equipment solution we provide ticks every box.
“The equipment itself has the capacity to perform at high intensity for a long period of time, which will help DB Cargo improve productivity and efficiency on-site.”
