The Severn Valley Railway has announced that GWR Saint 2999 Lady of Legend and Terrier 2678 will be visiting them for their 2022 Spring Steam Gala.
2999 is normally based at the Didcot Railway Centre, whilst 2678 is usually based at the Kent and East Sussex Railway.
Taking place between the 21st and 24th April, the Spring Steam Gala will feature an intensive timetable, with freight and passenger trains running throughout the weekend.
2999 Lady of Legend and 2678 will operate at the Spring Steam Gala alongside the Severn Valley Railway homefleet, including GWR 0-6-0 813, GWR Pannier 1501, GWR Pannier 7714 and 71516 Welsh Guardsman.
Tickets are available for the gala, with special pre-booking discount available on the SVR website
Michael Dunn, head of visitor experience said: “This is the first ‘normal’ Steam Gala we’ve been able to put on since 2019, and we want to offer an outstanding enthusiast event with a wide variety of motive power.
“We’re particularly pleased to see 2999 return to the SVR after its popular visit last year, allowing even more people to see this impressive feat of engineering. It’s testament to our talented team that the Great Western Society Limited are allowing ‘Lady of Legend’ to return.
“In due course, we’ll be announcing even more guests, and we’re certain that our line-up this year will put the Severn Valley Railway’s Spring Steam Gala at the top of the calendar!”

Why is there a picture of Goathland station on the North York Moors railway to illustrate a story about the Severn Valley Railway?
