Due to ongoing strike action by the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union, disruption to services is expected, and means TransPennine Express (TPE) will only be able to run an extremely limited number of services during the day.

Passengers planning to travel using TPE services on Sunday the 27th of March as being asked not to travel with a recommendation of travelling either side of the strike day.

Those needing to make essential journeys are advised to prepare and plan their journey ahead using the TPE website: http://tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates/strike and will feature the altered timetables which will be uploaded towards the end of the week.

Services will be subject to last-minute changes and cancellations and anyone considering travelling should leave a good amount of extra time for their travel and check carefully using National Rail Enquiries before beginning their journey.

Bikes will not be allowed on-board TPE services on Sunday the 27th of March.

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director for TransPennine Express said:

“Continued strike action by RMT means we will only be able to operate a very limited service for customers this Sunday and as such, we are recommending people do not travel.

“This will be the seventh strike day of strike action by the rail union, and we are really disappointed that we won’t be able to run a full service for our customers.

“Anyone planning to use our services this weekend is urged to travel either side of the strike day instead.”

TPE has organised ticket acceptance with a number of other train companies to offer support to those undertaking essential travel on Sunday.

TPE tickets will be accepted with Northern, Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway, CrossCountry, , LNER (between and ), ScotRail, (between Hull-Brough/Doncaster only) and services.

FirstBus services in West Yorkshire will also be taking part in organised ticket acceptance for those needing to use a bus service in order to complete their railway journey. Some exclusions will apply with full details available online.
