The intriguing Hidden London Tours see ticketholders visit secret locations throughout Londons Underground network which are usually off-limits to the public, but now in-person tours of Clapham South deep-level shelter are back for the first time in two years!
The tour will visit eerie tunnels in a little known area that is bursting with tales of Londoners looking for refuge in the maze of underground passages during World War II.
The tour also includes stories of Caribbean migrants who arrived on the Empire Windrush and made the deep-level underground shelter their temporary home.
In-person tours will also be available at the disused stations and tunnels of Aldwych, Charing Cross, Down Street, Euston, Moorgate and Piccadilly Circus disused stations giving visitors the chance to experience these rarely seen locations whilst enjoying unique stories of London’s past.
The tour season for 2022 will see a number of locations on UKTV’s popular Secrets of the London Underground series with fans of the show now able to follow the footsteps of presenters Siddy Holloway and Tim Dunn and explore these incredible sites for themselves.
The tours are led by expert guides who hold a wealth of fascinating facts and tales about these ‘forgotten’ parts of the London Underground. Visitors can explore disused tunnels, platforms and lift shafts that lie out of sight of unknowing modern-day commuters.
The tours for 2022 will also see include in-person tours for popular locations such as Down Street station which was Churchill’s secret refuge and new additions such as Kingsway Tram Tunnel, which was once the most important stretch of tram track in the Capital.
Fifteen Hidden London experiences will be available to choose from with virtual tours also on sale.
Tickets will be available to buy from Friday the 11th of March 2022 with priority booking available for London Transport Museum Friends and newsletter subscribers.
