TPE’s incredible cleaning teams have worked tirelessly to keep their services and stations as clean and safe as possible through the North and into Scotland.
TransPennine Express’s(TPE’s) hardworking cleaning teams have used more than 168,000 litres of cleaning solution, which would be enough to fill 557 baths and over 2,233km of cleaning tissue which if rolled out would stretch all the way from Edinburgh to Paris and back!
Over the past two years, the 150 Sanitation Busters at TPE have been working hard in order to ensure the safety of key workers and passengers by sanitising key touchpoints in stations and onboard over 100 carriages that operate on the TPE network.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director for TransPennine Express said:
“Our cleaning teams have been vital in delivering an enhanced cleaning regime on our trains and at stations, giving our customers the best possible travel environment, and we can’t thank them enough for their fantastic work.”
“From the sanitation teams to the conductors on board our services, everyone within TPE has played their part in helping keep key workers and our customers safe during the past two years and will continue to do so during 2022.”
TPE has also recorded figures that show over 775 litres of hand soap has been used by customers and colleagues and 176,800 recyclable rubbish bags have been filled and disposed of safely.
Peter Ferens, a member of the cleaning team said:
“We are continuing to deliver additional cleaning onboard trains and at our stations, particularly focusing on those areas that people are more likely to touch, such as handrails, door buttons, tables, armrests, toilets and ticket vending machines.”
“I am extremely proud of the team for the time and energy that has gone into delivering our enhanced cleaning regime and I was to reassure customers that we are continuing to do all we can to keep them safe.”
TPE would like to encourage customers to wear a face-covering at stations and onboard trains in England as a courtesy to other people, unless exempt. In Scotland, the wearing of face coverings remains a mandatory requirement on all services.
