The railway line between Glasgow and Kilwinning will be closed on Sundays until 20 February as Network Rail replaces worn-out track in a £4m investment.
Over a mile of the track will be renewed at various locations including Howwood, Glengarnock, and Dalgarven.
The work is needed to help ensure the continued safe and smooth running of the railway.
Teams will be replacing the old, worn railway track by removing it and laying new stone ballast, sleepers, and rails. Due to the complexity of the work, it cannot be delivered without some short-term closures of the line.
During the closures, the following services will be affected:
Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour
- A train service will operate between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street, and between Kilwinning and Ardrossan Harbour.
- Replacement bus services will operate between Paisley Gilmour Street and Kilwinning.
- A direct bus will also operate between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour to connect with ferry sailings.
