Direct Rail Services has confirmed that they are continuing the sale of its heritage locomotives.

The new sale will see a number of Class 37 locomotives (37603, 37604 and 37609) placed up for sale alongside a range of Class 57 locomotives (57004, 57008, 57009, 57010, 57011, 57012).

Alongside the locomotives are two DVT vehicles (82101 and 82126) and DBSO’s 9704 – 9710.

The items are available for bidding through the DRS process like before. Details on how to bid can be found on the DRS website.

The bidding process will run until the 3rd February and follows on from the sale of Class 20s, 37s and 57s back in October 2021.

Chris Connelly, NTS Deputy CEO and Rail Director, said: “We’re really proud of our past but as we look to the future we need to ensure we’re as efficient and agile as possible.

“We’ll be utilising our much more efficient and environmentally friendly Class 88 and Class 68 locomotives as we drive forward, ensuring that rail freight is as green as it can be and continue to emit much less CO2 when compared to road.

“This is a really exciting time at DRS and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
