The Bahamas Locomotive Society has sent RailAdvent a small update on work taking place on the overhaul of Coal Tank 1054, which is taking place at Ingrow West on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
Work has focussed on 45596 Bahamas (see our previous article by clicking here), but once this work was completed, attention was turned back to LNWR Coal Tank 1054.
The safety valve internals have been fitted along with the blower valve and pipework.
The injector delivery shut-offs have been fitted to the doorplate, and the manifold was built up with the newly overhauled shut-offs, these were then refitted to the boiler.
The boiler has been filled and has had a steam test, which was carried out in November. The regulator valve had to be coaxed to shut, but the safety valves were successfully set at 150psi.
Minor caulking had to be carried out, but generally the test went well.
Finally, work has taken place on the tanks and sieves, with these being cleaned out and the tank filler and boiler bands being painted.
