Saturday, the 18th of December 2021, saw RailView out to capture footage of both 6233 Duchess of Sutherland and 7029 Clun Castle on their festive excursions to in two separate videos.

The first video captures GWR 4073 Castle Class No. 7029 Clun Castle hauling The White Rose from Tyseley Steam Trust to York & return via & Barrow Hill with footage starting at Milford near Belper where we see 7029 speeding north out of the tunnel and into the scenic valley following a passenger pick up at Derby.

RailView next heads deep into Yorkshire where Clun Castle is seen powering through a location just before Sherburn-in-Elmet Station sounding fantastic as she heads for York after a water stop at Pontefract Baghill. Following this shot, we see her burst under the bridge and pass the foot crossing on the station where she, unfortunately, shuts off for what I believe to have been a double yellow signal but makes a nice approaching sound nonetheless.

We next see the Castle at Conisborough powering gently away from with a nice whistle before the station, this, unfortunately, would turn out to be our last shot of her hauling the tour solo despite trying to capture footage at Swinton (South Yorkshire) where she was sadly sent via the Swinton avoider through Thrybergh.

Heading back into Derbyshire, we next hoped to see the Castle at Chesterfield but instead, we got an unusual piece of footage as we see Class 47 47773 piloting 7029 from Barrow Hill to Tyseley Steam Trust.

In the second of the two videos, we see the Duchess in fine form on the outward leg of The White Rose from London Kings Cross to York via and return diesel hauled, at Colton Junction in an atmospheric mist as she tries to catch up for lost time at Doncaster where she speeds from 25 minutes late to just 10 mins late.

Later we see 6233 power through with a classic whistle and displaying The Royal Scot headboard which certainly looked fitting on this brilliant locomotive as she hurried her way to York!
