The Great Central Railway (GCR) has announced running days where visitors can ride behind new build steam locomotive London and North Eastern Railway designed Peppercorn A1 Class No.60163 “Tornado”.
“Tornado” has been moved to the GCR recently following withdrawal from mainline services after wheel flats were detected in a Fitness To Run (FTR) examination.
On hire to the GCR, 60163 will be appearing on a number days hauling a variety of trains, which includes:
The Master Cutler
Taking place on Friday 7th and Friday 14th of January, passengers enjoy a five course meal and while travelling along the GCR behind “Tornado”, passing and stopping over the beautiful Swithland viaduct with views of Charnwood Forest.

Running Weekend
Working alongside members of GCR home fleet, you can ride behind 60163 for three round trips at standard 2022 fare prices on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of January 2022.
