Engineers will be undertaking essential improvements over the Christmas period to strengthen bridge, which sits just south of Finsbury Park station.

Following the last train on Christmas Eve, work will get underway to replace the wooden timber that the rails attach to running over the bridge. The work will see a stronger version of the wooden timber put in place and will make the bridge fit for use for years to come.

The engineering teams will also be working on track improvements for the approach to the bridge, with the work providing smoother and more reliable journeys for passengers and will lessen the need for future maintenance.

The work has been planned to take place over Christmas Day and Boxing Day as there are no timetabled services scheduled for this area and means that disruption can be avoided and the work carried out safely. The work will be complete ahead of timetabled services commencing on Monday the 27th of December.

Project Manager, Gary Munns, said:

“I’m looking forward to spending the festive period with my team working on this project to improve the bridge, which will make sure train services can continue running safely and reliably.

“Carrying out these vital improvements on Christmas Day and Boxing Day gives us the opportunity to complete the work safely and efficiently, without causing disruption for passengers.”
