London North Eastern Railway has revealed its first Christmas Fayre Event with passengers able to enjoy luxury travel to a fabulously festive destination
The event will take place on Friday the 10th of December and is organised alongside a visit to the beautiful Victorian spa town of Harrogate.
Passengers taking part will not only get the chance to enjoy LNER’s exceptional hospitality onboard but also get to travel on one of the new high-speed Azuma fleet as they journey from London King’s Cross, Stevenage or Grantham and then on to the well-loved Yorkshire town of Harrogate which is famous for its Christmas fayres, boutique shops and restaurants.
The LNER Harrogate Christmas Fayre service will leave London King’s Cross at 09:33am, Stevenage at 09:56am and Grantham at 10:42am on Friday the 10th of December with the train arriving in Harrogate less than three hours later.
Passengers will enjoy First Class travel, complimentary refreshments and will be given an exclusive goodie bag as they head north to enjoy Harrogate’s festive sights and sounds.
Harrogate will be boasting beautiful Christmas market stalls which feature an array of delicious treats and unique gifts, a Ferris wheel and Victorian carousel are just some of the wonderful attractions adding festive sparkle. Harrogate is also very well known for its eateries, Turkish Baths, independent shops and arts venues.
Kate McFerran, Director of Communications at LNER said: “We are excited to announce that Harrogate will be the destination for our very first Christmas Fayre Event. It’s such a stunning location for a weekend visit, offering something for all the family and it promises to be especially magical this Christmas. We’re passionate about rail and our destinations and inspiring people to explore new places by train. We’re delighted to be working with Visit Harrogate to bring more visitors to the town to enjoy everything it has to offer, supporting tourism and local businesses.”
Each day LNER runs six direct services between London King’s Cross and Harrogate and as part of the Harrogate Christmas Fayre Event, passengers can make their own choice of when to take their return journey, providing the freedom to enjoy an overnight stay, however, passengers are reminded to reserve their seats.
Gemma Rio, Head of Destination Management at Harrogate Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to be working with LNER to bring more visitors to Harrogate for a festive break. Overnight visitors spend money in our hotels, restaurants, shops and visitor attractions – which is exactly what our local businesses need after a difficult year.
“The direct service from London is a real asset to our visitor economy, so we’re committed to working closely with LNER in the lead up to Christmas and beyond to ensure potential visitors know just how easy it is to reach us.”
Tickets will be limited for the event and those interested are advised to register their interest as soon as possible by visiting the LNER website.
Tickets for the LNER Harrogate Christmas Fayre Event cost £140 per person from London King’s Cross, £100 per person from Stevenage and £80 per person from Grantham, and includes return First Class travel with LNER and a goodie bag.
