Tornado steam locomotive to visit Preston and Carlisle this Saturday

60163 Tornado brings The Northern Belle into Hellifield

This Saturday, 16th October 2021, LNER A1 No. 60163 Tornado will haul part of a tour to Carlisle from Crewe.

Departing Crewe at 09:27 behind diesel locomotives, the tour will pass through Warrington Bank Quay (09:49), Wigan North Western (09:59), Preston (10:14), Lancaster (10:34 and Carnforth at 10:44, where Tornado is added to the train.

Tornado will then continue up the West Coast Main Line, passing through Oxenholme Lake District (11:32), Tebay (11:48) and Penrith North Lakes (12:12) before arriving into Carlisle at 13:32.

After servicing and time for passengers to explore Carlisle, Tornado will depart at 14:20 and will pass through Appleby (15:05), Ribblehead (15:59) Hellifield (16:18), Clitheroe (17:10), Blackburn (17:33), Preston (17:54 – Tornado taken off the train here), Wigan North Western (18:53), Warrington Bank Quay (19:02) and Crewe at 19:35.
