LNER has announced that they have launched a new wooden version of its Azuma trains.
The toy Azuma train will be a must-have for both young and old alike and features the well-known London North Eastern Railway (LNER) livery in red, white and black and is a regular sight dashing along the East Coast route at speeds of up to 125mph.
Made from responsibly sourced wood the toy train is available to buy on the National Railway Museums’ (NRM) online shop, and also in the official LNER shop which also carries a collection of commemorative posters, calendars and the LNER cookbook ‘Cooking for CALM’.
The toy train will also be available from the NRM gift shop which is only a short walk from York Station and also from Locomotion in Shildon.
In 2019, LNER were proud to celebrate the launch of Azuma trains with several special launch events at destinations across the route. A special video has also been made using the scale model Azuma toy at iconic LNER locations such as Edinburgh, York and London.
The toy Azuma has been made by Bigjigs Toys which is a family-run business that specialises in wooden toys for kids of all ages and is based in Maidstone, Kent.
There is no doubt that the toy Azuma will make an excellent gift for all ages, especially those passionate about LNER or with an interest in railway memorabilia.
The toy Azuma costs £17 which also includes postage, to find out more or to buy please visit here:

Kate McFerran, Director of Communications at LNER, said: “The LNER Azuma Bigjigs train is the perfect addition to any collection – big or small.”
“The launch of the Azuma toy train is the extension of the strong relationship between LNER and the National Railway Museum. Both organisations are proud to call York their home. By being able to sell the wooden train, we are hoping to extend the already huge appreciation and interest in LNER memorabilia.”
Judith McNicol, Director of the National Railway Museum, said: “I am pleased to announce this latest partnership with LNER to launch an exclusive miniature Azuma model – I’m sure this will be a big hit with our visitors. Every purchase will help support the museum and the launch is a great example of how we can work together with our partners in the rail industry.”
