Get creative with Lego this half term at the National Railway Museum, York

As part of the half term fun this year, the are putting on free Lego ‘Move It’ and ‘Make It’ activities for families to enjoy.

There will be free drop-in activities for all to enjoy each day, including Lego building challenges, bridge building and an object hunt.

Visitors can take part in the worldwide LEGO® Technicâ„¢ and Volvo challenge in the ‘Move It’; or be part of a small team in the ‘Make It’ challenge where visitors have three minutes to design objects out of Lego, maybe animals or robots.

One of the free activities on offer allows visitors to build bridges using recycled items before testing its strength on the earthquake machine. Collect your free object hunt from the activity station on your visit and get searching the museum for those items.

In addition to the half term activities, the miniature railway will be running, the Mallard Experience ride will be open, along with their indoor and outdoor playgrounds so there will be something for everyone to enjoy their visit.

Activities do not need to be booked and are run as drop-in sessions throughout the day, but visitors must book a general admission ticket prior to their visit. The half term fun will run each day over half term  – 23rd to 31st October. For more information or to book your entrance ticket, visit the National Railway Museum website.

Sophie Holland from the museum’s learning team said: “I would like to welcome everyone to the museum this half term to take part in our Lego and building-themed activities. Visitors will have the chance to have fun and get creative, thinking like an engineer as we explore how the railways are designed to get things moving.”
