The KWVR Railcar Group has unveiled BR Class 144 No. 144011 in Metro Trains livery at Haworth today, 30th October.

144011 has undergone a lot of sanding, filling and painting before being out-shopped at Haworth MPD in the Metro Trains livery.

The Class 144 is one of a number of 142/143/144 Pacer trains that have found a way into preservation after being in service with Northern.

The Metro Train Livery was only ever applied to Class 144s in the West Yorkshire region (after Class 141s gained the WYPTE Metro Train Livery – though this had a much wider strip of cream), so is fitting that 144011 has been out-shopped in this livery

144011, made up DMS (Driving Motor Standard) No. 55811 and DMSL (Driving Motor Standard with Lavatory) No.  55834, was transferred to KWVR ownership in June 2020 after spending time at the heritage railway as part of temporary storage for a number of Pacer trains.

No official launch date for the Pacer has been confirmed yet, but the KWVR Railcar Group Facebook Page says one will be announced in due course.

  1. The Pacer looks really good. Metro livery came and went in the years when I was away fro Leeds and sadly, I only got a couple of photos of it. However, it is good to see it revived.

  2. Perhaps other heritage railways in the UK should inherit the redundant Pacer trains instead of scrapping them as most of them have been sent for scrap. And some that have been saved and preserved.
