A steam locomotive from the Carnforth pool will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, York and Scarborough on Saturday 11th September.

The locomotive is hauling the Railway Touring Company’s Coast to Coast Express.

The steam locomotive will depart Liverpool Lime Street at 06:23 and will then pass through Edge Hill (06:26), Huyton (06:35), Newton-le-Willows (06:47), Eccles (07:01), Manchester Victoria (07:15), Romiley (08:47), Grindleford (09:35), Sheffield (09:48), Swinton (10:07), Moorthorpe (10:49), Church Fenton (11:13), York (11:48), Malton (12:39), Seamer (12:59) and Scarborough at 13:10.

After around 2 hours at the seaside town, the locomotive will depart at 15:52 and will pass through Malton (16:19), York (16:50), Church Fenton (17:10) and Milford Loop at 17:33 where the steam locomotive is removed from the train.

The train, now hauled by diesel locomotives, will return to Liverpool Lime Street via the same outbound route via Moorthorpe (18:49), Sheffield (19:22), Romiley (20:24), Manchester Victoria (20:56), Newton-le-Willows (21:17) and Liverpool Lime Street at 21:42.

From Milford Loop, the locomotive will pass through Castleford (17:55), Shipley (18:53), Keighley (19:09), Skipton (19:27), Gargrave (19:31), Hellifield (19:38), Carnforth (21:54) and Carnforth Steamtown at 22:25.
