Steam locomotive to pass through Barrow in Furness this Saturday

Steam Locomotive 45562 Alberta passes Selside with The Waverley

We have been advised that this tour is being part hauled by LMS Jubilee No. 45699 Galatea / 45562 Alberta / 45627 Sierra Leone – please note this is subject to change.

A West Coast Railways steam locomotive will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in and Barrow-in-Furness on Saturday 18th September 2021.

The locomotive is hauling part of the Cumbrian Coast Express on Saturday.

The railtour departs London Euston behind an electric locomotive at approximately 07:10 am.

The railtour will then head for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Milton Keynes Central (07:45), Rugby (08:25), Nuneaton (08:44), Crewe (09:34), Preston (10:27) and Penrith North Lakes (11:49) before arriving into Carlisle at 12:10

After around an hour in Carlisle, and with the steam locomotive now attached to the train, it will depart Carlisle at 13:15 bound for London Euston. It will pass through Maryport (14:10), Workington (14:19), Parton (14:37), Whitehaven (14:43), St Bees (14:55), Sellafield (15:08), Bootle (15:42), Millom (15:55), Askam (16:12), Barrow-in-Furness (16:29), Ulverston (16:46), Arnside (17:04), Carnforth (17:14) and Carnforth South Junction at 17:17, where the steam locomotive is replaced with the electric locomotive.

The electric locomotive will take the same path back to London Euston, calling at Preston (18:31) Crewe (19:27), Nuneaton (20:27), Rugby (20:49), Milton Keynes Central (21:20) and Watford Junction at 22:03.

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of London Euston at 22:29.
