Train Operator South Western Rail has launched a Senior Savers Club for discounted train tickets for the over 60s
From this week a discount of at least a third off “Advanced” and “Off Peak” journeys are available for those who qualify and some tickets are up to half price.
The discounted tickets available to those aged 60 and over open up the opportunity of days out of the chance to visit friends and relatives.
Example pricing shows that a return to Bournemouth from London can be £20 cheaper with the discount.
Senior Railcard holders will be able to double up and get a further third of the fares.
Tickets can be purchased for travel between 18th and 31st October from the South Western Railway website here.
Peter Williams, Commercial Director at South Western Railway said: “With selected fares being reduced by anything between a third and half price, our discount initiative for the over 60s provides great value for money, allowing them to spend less on travel and more on great days out.
“Whether it’s catching up with family and friends, exploring new places, or revisiting past favourites, our discount initiative means that creating new memories are just a train ticket away.”

South Western Railway should be given the go ahead to introduce their new Arterio Class 701 Aventra rolling stocks in service which is to replace the Class 455 and Class 456 rolling stocks. And some Class 455s to be cascaded to Southern.
