Steam locomotive 45627 Sierra Leone (or 46115 Scots Guardsman) will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 28th August 2021
The Scot locomotive is on a special railtour with the steam locomotive hauling the Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday.
Please note: we believe this tour to be part-hauled by 46527 Sierra Leone or 46115 Scots Guardsman. However, this is subject to change.
The railtour departs diesel hauled from Crewe at 06:59 and will head via Sandbach (07:06), Wilmslow (07:19), Cheadle Hulme (07:31), Stockport (07:36), Denton (08:03), Manchester Victoria (08:32), Salford Central (08:36), Bolton (09:01), Preston (09:31), Lancaster (10:34), Carnforth North Junction (10:41 – 45627 / 46115 added to the train here), Oxenholme Lake District (11:38), Tebay (11:54), Penrith North Lakes (12:17) and Carlisle at 12:38.
After around 2 hours in Carlisle, 45627 / 46115 will depart Carlisle at 14:22 bound for Crewe. It will pass through Appleby (15:06), Ribblehead (15:55), Hellifield (16:13), Clitheroe (17:08), Blackburn (17:33), Preston (18:05 – 45627 / 46115 replaced by diesel here), Bolton (18:57), Manchester Victoria (19:20), Stockport (19:46), Wilmslow (20:07), Sandbach (20:23) and Crewe at 20:31
