Another reminder not to trespass on the railway has been issued by , after youths were seen climbing on railway infrastructure at Kirby Cross railway station in Essex.

Oblivious to the angers of the overhead electricity cables, the youths climbed up onto the signal gantry at the station.

The overhead electric wires can be seen in the picture just behind them, and can carry up to 25,000 volts of electricity.

Anyone who comes into contact with the overhead wires can be killed instantly or suffer from life-changing injuries.

Network Rail use the signal gantry to carry out essential maintenance which is carried out under strict safety procedures and has measures in place to try and prevent unauthorised people from climbing on it.

Richard Tew, Network Rail’s head of safety for Anglia, said: “These youths were completely oblivious to the nearby overhead wires which carry up to 25,000 volts and can kill instantly or leave the person with life changing injuries if they survive.

“The hidden dangers on the railway are real and have far-reaching and devastating consequences for anyone who trespasses, which also affect family, friends and communities. Trespassing on any part of the railway isn’t worth the risk.

“If your friends are trespassing don’t follow them. Call 0800 40 50 40 or text the British Transport Police on 61016.”

  1. Crass stupidity by someone for blanking out their faces. The idiots should be identified for everyone to see.

  2. What’s far worse (from what was pictured), that infrastructure looked a little weakly wobbly, and thsoe foolishly blithering idiot brawler-crawlers, could of fallen, with the infrastructure as it would of toppled to the track below, and heavens knows how (way more than) accidentally life risking it would of been.

I’M so deeply shocked… Absolutely Shocked, Startled, ever so Disgusted, especially by such life-risking trespass upon that infrastructure.
