The Nene Valley Railway (NVR) has announced that there is one final space remaining on this Friday’s Freight Driver Experience using Great Western Railway (GWR) 4100 ‘Large Prairie’ Class No.4144.
Currently visiting the Wansford based heritage line thanks to the Great Western Society at Didcot Railway Centre, 4144 will be used in a Freight Driver Experience this Friday, the 13th of August.
During the experience, you get the chance to drive and fire 4144 while hauling a freight train along part of NVR’s line.
Once a theory tutorial is complete, you will head out to meet 4144 before climbing aboard the footplate to begin your journey.
With a trip to the Wansford Signal Box towards the end, the experience is a brilliant day for steam enthusiasts.
With one final place now available at the time of writing, you can book your place now or find out more information on the Freight Driver Experience with 4144 here on their website.Â
Anyone wishing to see or ride behind 4144 while the engine visits the NVR is recommended to do so sooner rather than later, with the locomotive departing Wansford in September 2021.
