Set up to celebrate the retirement of British Rail Class 43 High-Speed Train (HST), East Midland Railway (EMR) is hosting a silent auction where you can bid to win a Brio wooden model of the famous class.

To celebrate the retirement of their HSTs, EMR painted two of their power cars in special liveries, 43102, the fastest diesel locomotive in the world alongside 43159, being painted into InterCity swallow livery and being given the new name ‘The Journey Shrinker’ stating its speed record of 148.5mph underneath the name, and 43274 being repainted into purple livery, making this the only power car to run in this short-lived livery.

In partnership with Brio, who make wooden model trains, EMR has commissioned a special one-off model of the last HST train to run for EMR.

Being hand-built by Mike Gray at Graystone Group Ltd, no detail has been spared in making the model, even down to adding the special headboard which says “1976 2021 The Last HST From London”.

Money raised by the highest bid will be donated to the National Autistic Society to support them, with the current highest bid at £500.

With only three weeks left, you have until 5 pm on Friday 27th August 2021 to submit your bid.
