Tornado steam locomotive to headline North Yorkshire Moors Railway Gala

The has announced that it will be welcoming two locomotives to the line for its Annual Steam Gala when it returns in September after a break in 2020.

12 locomotives will in steam from 23rd September until the 26th September 2021.

Heading to the event will be the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust’s LNER A1 No. 60163 Tornado and from the Great Central Railway will be LMS 8F No. 48305.

These two locomotives will haul trains along the 18-mile long line along with resident locomotives with trains running between Pickering and Whitby.

The Beer Festival also makes a return to Goathland and Levisham

Chris Price, General Manager at NYMR, said: “It will be great to welcome these two icons of steam to the NYMR, with another locomotive to be announced. After taking a break in 2020 due to covid-19, it’s great to have the Steam Gala return – it’s without doubt one of our favourite events and one of the most popular.”
