Back in Black! Steam locomotive 5025 unveiled in LMS Lined Livery in Scotland

LMS Black 5 No. 5025 unveiled at the Strathspey Railway

Yesterday, LMS Black 5 No. 5025 was unveiled in LMS Lined Black livery having completed the last part of its 10-year restoration.

The Black 5 locomotive is the oldest surviving member of the class in UK preservation.

Murray Duncan has completed the painting, lining and lettering on the locomotive.

5025 now looks exactly like it did when it was completed at the Vulcan Foundry on the 27th August 1934.

The Black 5 was initially allocated to Perth MPD and hauled its first train from Perth on the 5th September 1934, with a service to Inverness, which means that it had to go on what is now the .
