Train operator South Western Railway is now providing passengers with real-time information on car parking spaces at a number of their car parks.
As Coronavirus restrictions ease and passengers numbers rise, the information will make it easier for passengers to check before travelling on the availability of spaces at their station car park.
At any time, passengers can check the exact number of spaces available at 59 of the biggest car parks.
Over 1200 spaces are monitored through the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology at the stations. It allows the counting of cars as they arrive and leave the station.
Alan Penlington, SWR’s Customer Experience Director, said: “We know that there are lots of things that feel uncertain at the moment, that’s why we’re doing all we can to make travelling with us as smooth as possible. Making this information available to customers will enhance the service we offer and enable people to travel with confidence across our network”.
