The Lynton & Barnstaple (L&B) Railway Trust has announced that they have recently acquired ‘The Halt’, previously the L&B’s Parracombe Halt, a key milestone in restoring the L&B to its former glory.

A big thank you from the Trust goes to the late Rick & Barbara Sayers who made the purchase of Parracombe Halt by the L&B Trust possible.

Life long supporters of the L&B Railway, the couple left the railway with a significant legacy, providing the necessary finances to purchase the Halt.

Both regular visitors, Rick & Barbara, would often be seen running the L&B sales stand in the marquee at special events and Galas. Once Parracombe Halt has been restored, a commemorating plaque will be made and displayed.

Not only is purchasing Parracombe Halt a key milestone, but the Lynton & Barnstaple railway now owns all the trackbed from Woody Bay Station to and including Parracombe Halt, a massive accomplishment.

This makes the railway’s future brighter, placing them one big step closer to applying for Transport and Works Act Orders (TWAO).

Donations of any amount towards the Land Purchase Fund are greatly appreciated, and help acquire land when offered to the railway.
