The Fairbourne Railway has launched an emergency appeal after a “serious engineering defect” was found to have developed on resident steam locomotive, Yeo.
The defect means that all 3 wheelsets will need to be replaced before the locomotive can run safely again.
As Yeo is a resident loco, and a mainstay in the locomotive roster, it is vitally needed for the peak summer timetable.
The railway has identified a company that can carry out the work quickly, but this will cost up to £10,000.
With the railway suffering from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the Fairbourne Railway has turned to supporters to raise the funds for this vital repair.
There are three ways to donate: Bank Transfer, Standing Order, or Cheque, with more details on how to donate can be found over on the Fairbourne Railway website.
Don’t forget you can also Gift Aid your donation, with a form available on the Fairbourne Railway website.

From what I’m hearing about, and learning from in-between… I do hope this appeal potentially succeeds, in seeing this charming little narrow-gauge steam loco repaired to roam the rails once again.
I also support this appeal, of whom indeed an emergency appeal, in which case, certainly has potential in doing so.
