The has announced that it is re-opening all of its stations this Saturday, 26th June 2021, following months of closure due to the Coronavirus Pandemic restrictions.

The railway has been running a single round trip service from Quorn & Woodhouse to since it reopened with its First Hurrah Gala on the 5th of June 2021.

It will be a very welcome return for visitors to experience the full 8-mile long railway line and enjoy looking around the restored stations of Loughborough, Quorn & Woodhouse, and Leicester North.

The Great Central Railway will also be bringing back its popular day Rover ticket, which is just £18.00 for an adult, an excellent price for a full day of steam and nostalgia, with plenty to see and do for the whole family.

The railway also has the fantastic Butler Henderson cafe at Quorn & Woodhouse Station and the delightful Ellis Tea Rooms at Rothley Station, both of which have a wonderful selection of foods and refreshments.

If you fancy something a little stronger then the quirky Tin Shed Shanty Bar at Quorn & Woodhouse is a great place for a pint of real ale or draught cider!

The Great Central Railway is the only double track heritage railway in the country set amongst beautiful scenery including Swithland Reservoir which it runs right next to.

The railway runs an impressive fleet of steam locomotives and heritage diesel locomotives and is run by both volunteers and staff who are also no doubt very excited about getting back to normal this weekend!
