Transport for the North (TfN) has confirmed a new partnership with Citymapper, which will help passengers find the latest travel information to plan their journeys effectively.
Citymapper is a route planning service, available via their website or downloadable app, which uses real-time data to provide its users with the best type of transport to use between the selected locations.
The app also calculates cost and time.
The current areas which can be found on Citymapper are as follows:
- Greater Manchester
- Liverpool City Region
- Sheffield City Region
- Transport North East area
- West Yorkshire
This is brilliant news for passengers, as they can now plan their journeys more effectively from their mobile devices, adjusting or changing if needed to ensure they arrive on time or within their budget.
This should hopefully help more public transport users travel easier than before and increase satisfaction.

Information Strategy Manager at Transport for the North, Richard Mason, said: “With the disruption messaging now integrated with Citymapper, it’s yet another step in ensuring people in the North are able to make the right decision, at the right time, about how they travel.
“Our mission has always been to make life better for the people of the North – whether that’s long-term infrastructure projects such as Northern Powerhouse Rail, or making sure public transport is more inclusive and accessible.
“This latest move puts more live information in the hands of passengers, as a first step in our city regions, to plan their journeys with more confidence when they step out the door.”
City Operations Lead, UK and Ireland at Citymapper Harvey Tims said: “Covering transport disruptions is a critically important aspect of what we do.
“We are delighted to have been able to work with Transport for the North to ensure travellers across the North have the latest information, allowing them to make informed decisions when making their journeys.”
