UPDATE: The One: One Collection has released a further statement on this news story – click here.

The One:One Collection has announced that Ex-LNER Class 43 HST Power cars, 43006 (43206) and 43112 (43312) and their respective coaches have joined their collection.

However, they won’t be moved to the Margate museum yet, instead, they’ll team up with the Midland Pullman-liveried HST to haul trains between London St Pancras and Manchester Piccadilly as well as other UK destinations.

Their first outings have been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but updates on their planned routes will be announced later in the year.

Most recently, the HST was in service with Virgin Trains East Coast and later became part of the London North Eastern Railway fleet.

This set was used on LNER’s ‘Lets Go Round Again’ railtour to bid farewell to HSTs on the East Coast Main Line.

  1. We are very lucky here in the South West because the HSTs never went away. They continue on lovelier than ever with their updates.

  2. The HST’s were the best trainsets introduced to the Network and remain so to this day. Generously spacious and with groundbreaking bogies providing the most comfortable ride of any train I ever ride in, they provided the most civilised travel experience bar none.

  3. As a class 253, I think this power car started its life on the western region out of Paddington. The east coast trains were class 254. The high speed train still operates in short form in the south west where I live.

  4. Well I’ll Be… The so-called ONE:ONE Collection/Museum (Over in Kent)… Must be ever so Proud & also Lucky, to now own 2 ex-British Rail Intercity 125 Power Cars & some Carriages in-between.

It’s Jolly Great to see the ONE:ONE Collection take on (of which they’ll eventually do) An Intercity 125 express train, as part of said Collection.
