GB Railfreight has unveiled its first Class 69 locomotive in its new livery, BR Large Logo.
69002 was unveiled at Eastleigh in the striking new livery after work was completed by Arlington Fleet Services.
This marks a major milestone for the Class 69 project, which began in 2019.
69002 has now returned to Longport, where further completion work can take place.
We asked GB Railfreight about 69001, and they confirmed that it is to be unveiled in a special livery as well, which they say will convey ‘the cooperation between the USA, Progress Rail, and GBRf, in the UK’.
A spokesperson for GBRf also said that the first Class 69 hauled service is expected to be in June 2021, and 69001 is due to be named at the end of May 2021.
