Network Rail are warning passengers of upcoming urgent repairs to the lifts at Wavertree Technology Park station, which will take place in May.
Inspections of the lifts showed damage to the lift shaft buildings which need to be fixed quickly.
The cladding panels will be replaced and strengthen on both lifts.
However this will mean that both lifts are closed to passengers for a total of 17 days between Tuesday 4th and Friday 21st May 2021.
If you require step-free access, you will need to contact the Northern Passenger Assist Team.
Tickets will be valid for passengers to travel via the nearest step-free station, Roby, where travel will be arranged.
Alex Lewis, asset engineer for buildings at Network Rail, said: “We thank passengers for their patience while we carry out urgent repairs to the lifts at Wavertree Technology Park.
“We know the work will inconvenience some passengers and I’d urge people to plan their journeys with Northern while the lifts are temporarily closed.”
Chris Jackson, regional director at Northern said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the repairs to the lifts at Wavertree Technology Park station and would urge passengers who need step free access to plan their journeys in advance.
“Providing an accessible railway is a vitally important for Northern and we have made significant improvements across our network in recent months to help those with mobility needs. This includes a new mobility scooter scheme, enhancements at stations and, in conjunction with Network Rail, improved lift provision.”

Why not just shut the station for a few weeks and replace the lift shafts and replace it with a new one and a new footbridge. Simple.
