David Elliott, the G5 Project’s engineer, turns 70 today, and the group haven’t let the coronavirus pandemic put their plans on hold.
G5 Company Secretary, Tim Taylor, presented a special G5 cake at the unit for his birthday and recognised his work on the new build project.
David has been involved since the launch of the G5 project, which is aiming to bring No. 1759 to passenger service, with recent progress seeing a lot of sanding and painting.
Mike Wood, Chairman of Class G5 Locomotive Co Ltd, said, “ It would’ve been fabulous to surprise David with a large gathering of supporters and volunteers at the G5 unit in Shildon, but unfortunately, the lockdown scuppered those plans. We couldn’t let this special birthday pass, so Tim stepped in to present the cake to David.”
Help is always appreciated at the G5 Project, so if you want to join Tim, David and Mike, why not join as a Superfriend for as little as £5 a month. Please visit the G5 Locomotive Ltd website for more details.
