The Class 40 Preservation Society has announced that BR Class 40 No. 40145 will be staying at Locomotive Services Ltd in Crewe for an additional year, whilst also confirming that 40145 will have a new look for 2021.
Locomotive Services Ltd and the Class 40 Preservation Society have agreed on an extension on the hire deal, announced last year, of 40145 for a further 12 months, which starts immediately.
Whilst at Crewe, 40145 will receive some bodywork repairs and will then be repainted in BR Green livery.
40145 (D345) will then be joined by D213 Andania, which should return to the mainline in the next few months, and the aim is to have them both in the same livery.
The Class 40 Preservation Society said: “The CFPS sends our good friend Shaun Wright their best wishes. Shaun has worked really hard, for both the CFPS and also on his own locomotive and he, plus Andania deserve a trouble-free return to service for the locomotive.”
John Stephens, CFPS Chairman, said that the Class 40 may complete driver refresher and route learning duties for LSL, but other than this, there are no immediate plans for charter trains.
