The Bodmin and Wenford Railway has announced that they are in the process of preparing for a Saturday 1st of May reopening.
Based in Bodmin, Cornwall, the heritage line has carefully read the UK Government’s Roadmap to Recovery, released on February 22nd, and decided that Saturday 1st of May is the best date to reopen considering all factors.
The reopening depends on the Government’s advice which will vary depending on the danger COVID-19 poses to the general public.
The railway and it’s management will be keeping a close eye out for the latest government advice and plan accordingly.
In the meantime, some staff and volunteers will visit the heritage line to carry out essential maintenance work to the infrastructure and rolling stock, ensuring the railway is ready to reopen when the time comes.
Keep an eye out for the latest updates on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway’s website or their Facebook page, as more information will be published closer to the time.
Chair of the Bodmin and Wenford Railway PLC Board David Nelson-Brown commented: “The last year or so has been a very long slog, and at times things looked bleak. But I am delighted to see the light not far ahead, and, amazingly, we’ve got this far! Our time for this has come, and I hope over the next few weeks to see a busy hive of activity across the railway to give that final push.”
