The LMS Patriot project has released its latest update on building the steam locomotive.

January 2021 has seen work on many fronts continue, with an opportunity to join the team.

West Shed – Rolling Chassis

Repairs to the coupled wheels through welding has been completed, allowing the leading and centre wheels to be pressed back onto the axles to form the wheelsets. New material for the trailling wheelset’s axle is in the process of being shipped to the UK from South Africa.

Both the axle boxes and horn guides have seen lubrication pipework fitted. Bushes for the tail rods and expansion link have been machined. Work will start on the motion rods when the material arrives.

Leaky Finders – Tender Chassis

The team at Leaky Finders are approaching the final stages in finishing the tender’s chassis.

Heritage Boiler Steam Services – Boiler

Tooling stays and fixing the boiler slides will restart soon.
