ScotRail have announced that work on the redevelopment of Motherwell railway station has resumed after a break for the winter.
The £14.5m redevelopment of the railway station at Motherwell was announced last year.
The next phase of the works will see the construction of new staff and passenger waiting facilities on platforms 2 and 3, with the concrete foundations poured just before Christmas.
The vacant retail units will be cleared and preparatory works will be undertaken ready for the refurbishment of the concourse.
The new drivers’ facilities should have the external works completed by the end of the month.
Work on the mezzanine level is starting with the erection of scaffolding ready for new cladding for the building.
In addition, the vegetation next to platform 3 has been removed ready for building a new wall needed for the larger station concourse and retail space.
