Storm Christoph: Aberystwyth to Machynlleth line and Blaenau Ffestiniog line closed due to flooding

Transport for Wales is urging people to check before travelling, as Storm Christoph batters Wales with heavy rain.

Heavy rain has flooded the line between and Machynlleth and means all lines are blocked.

Flooding is also affecting trains between Machynlleth and , with disruption between these stations expected until 09:00.

There is no confirmation of when trains will resume between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, and no road transport has been confirmed.

Additionally, multiple lines in Wales are experiencing issues, such as to , which has been closed until 6 am tomorrow (Thursday 21st January 2021). Rail replacement buses will operate instead of trains.

The to Bangor line has a speed restriction in place, delaying trains by up to 15 minutes and the Shrewsbury to Wrexham General line has been closed due to flooding between Chirk and Gobowen.

Heading south, trains are running slower than usual due to flooding in the Manorbier area, and trains may be delayed or cancelled.

If you are heading out, please check before travelling and follow all national restrictions currently in place.
