Network Rail will start a project tomorrow to refurbish a railway bridge in Bishopbriggs near Glasgow.
The £550,000 makeover for the bridge over Crowhill Road will see the road closed between Monday the 11th January and April the 2nd 2021.
Various items of work will be included in the project, which includes steelwork repairs, masonry work, cleaning and repainting of the bridge.
The project should see the lifespan of the bridge extended for up to 25 years.
Some of the work will be carried out during the night. For more information on the project, visit the Crowhill Road bridge page on the Network Rail website.
Allison Flanagan, Network Rail programme manager, said: “We appreciate the patience of residents while we carry out these vital works.”
“Delivering projects of this type, in a constrained location, presents a logistical challenge, but we have planned the job carefully and will complete it with the minimum possible inconvenience to the local community.”
“We understand that working close to properties overnight is far from ideal and we will do everything we can to minimise the noise and complete the project as quickly as possible.”

Has no-one told your writers that you don’t write the “the” when you’re spelling the date?
“Monday 11th January” is all that is needed.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the feedback. Having a browse online it seems that there are various ways of writing the date which are deemed correct, perhaps depending on the writers own style. The format used in the piece was acceptable to our grammar/spell-checking software.
Alan
Quite a narrow bridge as well. Only for smaller vehicles to pass underneath it.
