The 5305 Locomotive Association has released an update on the overhaul to bring steam locomotive 777 Sir Lamiel back to the mainline.
A lot of work has progressed since the last update on Sir Lamiel.
All of the boiler tubes have now been removed, so attention by the volunteers has turned to other areas.
The motion for the steam locomotive has begun to be removed, not an easy job as the rods are not light in weight.
Moving to Sir Lamiel’s tender, all the brake rigging and components have been removed and have been given a good clean ready to be assessed.
The 5305 Locomotive Association said: “The last couple of weeks have seen a lot of work progressed on Sir Lamiel. Since all the boiler tubes are now removed, our attention has moved onto other areas. Thank you to the volunteers who have helped out over the recent weekends and evenings.”
A fundraising programme was announced recently to help with the overhaul of the locomotive.
